Join architectural historian Hannah Simonson, for a two-hour walking tour from Gold Mine Hill to Fairmount Hill to learn about the unique Bay Area Regional Modernism in Diamond Heights. This tour will highlight some of the most unique Midcentury Modern homes in the city, as well as a hard-fought battle for well-designed affordable housing in the 1960s. We'll cover how Diamond Heights was transformed from a rocky, windswept series of hills to a diverse neighborhood through redevelopment, as well as the regional variations of Modernist architecture that make the area so special.
Note: This walk involves steep inclines and stairs.
